about

Hi! My name is Danielle, I'm the Designer and Founder behind Sanct.

Sanct came to me at a time when I was at my lowest. I was struggling with unexplained illness and working my butt off to make someone else's dream brand a success.

I was also completely uninspired by my work and the fashion industry at the time. I found that so many brands talking big about sustainability were really just greenwashing behind the scenes. It left me disheartened and I realised I couldn’t ever be happy working as a cog in this flawed system.

That is when I started dreaming of a fashion practice with sustainability built in beyond empty platitudes.

It was 2018, I was very unwell and I left my 9-5 to recuperate and start planning my first steps towards building Sanct.

My background is as a maker. I've always made my own clothes since I started sewing when I was 11 years old. So developing Sanct started with a lot of sewing. I wanted to create a new benchmark for sustainable fashion in Australia, going beyond surface level platitudes. This involved a lot of specialised components as some (like my natural rubber/organic cotton elastic) are only manufactured in one factory in the world right now.

I wanted Sanct to be plastic free, ethically/transparently sourced, Australian made and size inclusive.

Sanct launched in November 2019, and today, it can be described as a fashion practice for the people, where we get super transparent about how garments are made, what goes into making them and what that all costs. It has been a joy to help people understand fashion and how to shop as sustainably as we each can.

Currently, Sanct is a one woman business (just me!), so it will be me you see posting on socials, packing your orders or answering your enquiries.

I look forward to getting to know more of you!
